A little about Holy Convocations
In giving the laws concerning His appointed seasons, times – the festivals, Moadim ~ מועדים, God gave instructions and commands concerning Mikra’ey Kodesh (also spelt Mikra’ei Kodesh), which are holy convocations – a holy assembly, which is a sacred obligation unto the people of God. On these sacred times, HaShem spoke to Moses and Aaron, and enjoined them saying: “Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them: The appointed seasons of HaShem, which ye shall proclaim to be holy convocations, even these are My appointed seasons.” (VaYikra [Leviticus] 23:2)
